Dear Diary, today I

Jane and I saw Justin Chon from twilight at Little Tokyo and we ended up eating at the same restaurant! Anyway, last time I went to Curry House was five years ago when I was a sophomore in high school. It was still really good! I got the chicken breast cutlet curry and the meat was perfectly done--not dry, not undercooked, just right amount of moisture. The service was also amazing...we even had a server fix the teeny tiny minor wobbling of our table...honestly, I didn't even notice until he pointed it out. Plus, they have validated parking!

At night I went out and adventured downtown LA with Rebecca. Ate at Guisados-- *Janice voice* OH my gawd...the tortillas were the best tortillas I've ever eaten. Before tonight,  Los Agaves in Santa Barbara had the best tortillas, but Guisados topped it. They have a thick thick, handmade corn tortilla...it was the highlight for me lol. They're even non-gmo!  I got the sampler with 6 different meats: steak picado, bistek en salsa pioja, tinga de pollo, mole poblano, chicarron, and cochinita pibil. They were all good. I would come back again. Their horchata is also really good--not watered down at all. You can even add a shot of Stumptown Coffee espresso to make it a dirty horchata! I wish they could sell their tortillas in bulk though.....

Stepped inside a gallery by an artist named Todd and we had the pleasure of listening to him explain his art to us. Took a stroll around the area, saw many many new and trendy bars. Really reminded me of the Greenwich village in New York. We went up to the rooftop at the Ace Hotel and then called it a night.

First time on Sawtelle, first time eating tsukemen!

Sawtelle is a street by UCLA that is also known as Little Osaka. There are a ton of asian restaurants, especially Japanese in this area. I've heard a lot about tsukemen, ramen noodles that you dip into warm (not hot) broth as opposed to having the two elements in one bowl. Tsujita LA is where the hype is for tsukemen. There's always a long wait--it's only a 12 seat establishment. Driving here was well worth it.

I got the char siu tsukemen and Rebecca got the ajitama tsukemen (boiled egg). To my surprise, there was a soft-boiled egg in the char siu tsukemen broth too (yay!).

OKAY. So...the char siu pork BLEW ME AWAY. It was the softest, juiciest, delicate, most amazing pork I've ever eaten. The dipping thing was interesting, but it was a great great combination of flavors in my mouth. They also give you a very generous amount of noodles. Mmm I am definitely coming back here! A+++

CoCo ICHIBANYA!

I went to eat at CoCo a lot when I was studying abroad in Shanghai, so I was super excited to see that they opened one in Koreatown Los Angeles!!
When they say spicy--it ain't white people spicy! It's actually really spicy!

I got the omelette chicken cutlet and my sister got the pork cutlet. We also shared a large green salad. I would have to say that it was all a bit salty, but it's curry and this is America so hah. But, to be real, it was good, I would come back again.
