The Dropbox

I just watched The Dropbox, a documentary focusing on disabled babies dropped off, or abandoned, at the home of Pastor Lee in Seoul, South Korea. After watching the film, I realized that I never really had an opinion on disabled children or people. Growing up in America and in a town where I grew up with virtually zero physically disabled kids, I was never exposed to disabilities long enough to have a deeper thought about it. I volunteered at a disabilities olympics once for a school project and I've passed by disabled people on the streets, but I have never been confronted to think about disabilities in the way this film made me think.

Although the film was created through the eyes of a Christian pastor and Christian church, I have no doubt that a non-believer would be touched by the true care and true love displayed between Pastor Lee and his adopted children. I am a Christian myself, which allowed the film to hit home in my heart. I was convicted: God didn't bring disabled children into this world to make them suffer. God created all of his children, disabled or fully functional, for a purpose.

In the end, we are all disabled; either physically, mentally, or emotionally. Yet, we all were created for a purpose, and even beyond that purpose and beyond any disability, hurt, or sin, God still loves us.

I encourage you all to watch the film. It's in theaters for only three days: March 3, 4, & 5 @ 7pm in select theaters.
